Buy Rose’s Lime Juice While You Can.
In case you haven’t noticed the price of limes lately have been going through the roof. One restaurant has reported that a case of limes that used to cost them $14 is now costing them $100. This may mean that the cheap happy hour margarita may soon be going by the wayside.
Why is this happening? According to the report below by KERA news it’s a number of factors. Among those factors are floods, cranky drug cartels, crop plagues, less limes being grown and more people demanding them. This is not an all-inclusive list by any means.
Where will this all end? Well in the short term it will all be about higher prices, but in the long-term it will probably mean that more limes will be grown. This eventually means that there will be a glut and they will be cheaper once more. It’s a vicious cycle I tell you.
