Plow & Hearth

For Those Who Just Don’t Want Alcohol.

A short while ago I received an email from a gentleman that was wondering about where he could find nonalcoholic drinks to mix up in his frozen concoction maker. It was then that it dawned on me that while covering drinks containing alcohol pretty well, I had been quite remiss on providing the other variety. I mean every so often everybody wants to serve great-looking drinks to folks that just can’t have or even handle alcohol.

So in that vein I came up with 10 non-alcohol drinks to make in your Margaritaville machine. Each one has been run through a Margaritaville Fiji machine to make sure that they will all turn out perfectly, but that’s not to say you might not have to do some tweaking to get it perfect for your taste.

My personal favorites are the Ocean Spray Mango Surprise, Not So Fuzzy Frozen Fuzzy Navel and the Virgin Pina Colada.

Enjoy!

Ocean Spray Mango Sunrise.Ocean Spray Mango Sunrise

Ingredients.

  • 4 ounces of Ocean Spray Pineapple Peach Mango Juice.
  • Two scoops of Mango sorbet.
  • Float of grenadine.

  • Set the type of drink to smoothies and the number of drinks to one.
  • Press the shave blend button and off you go.
  • At the end of the blending cycle check to make sure that the drink consistency is to your liking. If it’s too thin shave in more ice and blend, if it’s too thick add a bit more juice.
  • Pour into your favorite glass and top with a float of grenadine.
  • Wait a minute or two for the grenadine to migrate to the bottom of the glass giving you a nice separation of colors.
  • Serve and enjoy!

  • Slowly pour the 3 ounces Sprite into the bottom of a hurricane glass. Then pour the frozen orange juice mixture slowly on top of it.
  • Use a straw to slowly mix the two together. Then put the float of grenadine on top and wait a minute for it to migrate towards the bottom of the glass.

Note.

If you’re using a Bahamas or Key West model to make these drinks then might it would be a good idea to pulse the blender using the manual blend button on any drinks containing ice cream or sorbet.

Once the ice cream is fairly mixed you can then press the button to run it through its normal cycle. This is just a precaution to make sure that the ice cream or sorbet gets completely blended.
